Wow , what an experience. If you like degustation , this beautiful restaurant is the place to go . My partner and I , were on the wait list and fortunately we received a text message to say we are in. From the moment we arrived , the greeting party was super friendly , and our host Uni, was simply lovely . The food experience was exceptional and the wine was great . All local produce and wine sourced from the region. It’s a very fancy , classy and joyful experience.

Visited for lunch - thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service is wonderful, surroundings beautiful but the food is worth a visit. The seafood dish- crab with pea purée and garden vegetables was excellent, light and flavoursome.

The Sunday lunch degustation is an amazingly beautiful experience overall. The space is stunning, just like the rest of the hotel incredibly tastefully designed. It’s light, bright, warm with a calming koi pond right outside. The dishes are outstandingly curated with loving attention to the smallest detail. Ingredients are sourced locally and high quality. The service is warm, knowledgeable, and attentive. I wish I had taken pictures of the food but the dishes look just as they do on the website. Cannot recommend babae and hotel Vera enough

Had an extraordinary meal at Babae. A fun, passionate and modern venue for fine dining. Every dish was exquisite, perfect preparations, ingredients, and execution. The staff were excellent, responsive, and knowledgeable. The space is beautifully designed with the kitchen on display through the meal and lovely views out onto the heritage property. A real culinary gem! Don’t miss out.

Our experience at Babae was truly exceptional. The atmosphere felt intimate and relaxed, with only a few tables and the chefs cooking right in the same room—it made the whole evening feel personal and special. Nothing was rushed, and the vibe was wonderfully laid-back. The staff were absolutely lovely—friendly, attentive, and genuinely charming. Unlike many fine dining spots that can feel a bit stiff, Babae was bright, welcoming, and full of positive energy. From the moment we walked in, we felt like part of a family. The food? Incredible. Every course was crafted with such attention to detail, and honestly, we couldn’t even pick a favorite—they were all that good. The next day, we dined at a two-hat restaurant, but it didn’t come close. Babae completely set the standard for us. We’ll definitely be back. More people need to discover this gem.

The food, hospitality, atmosphere.. everything was incredible. From the moment you step inside this beautiful building you’re greeted like family. The food is absolutely second to none and we left feeling happy, relaxed and full. I can’t wait to be back and book a room to stay. What a beautiful space with beautifully kind people. Flawless 4 course lunch. Greeted at the door, taken through the beautiful old front and into the light filled dining area. Food was absolutely gorgeous and an extensive and well price drinks list was a nice touch. The entire team were genuinely so lovely the entire way through. Can’t wait to come back.

An Outstanding Experience at Babae Ballarat! We had such a fantastic afternoon at Babae Ballarat, from the moment we arrived to the very last bite, everything was simply exceptional. The Bluestone Gougere we had to start was absolutely fab light, fluffy, and full of flavour. A perfect way to kick off the meal. But the real star of the show? The steamed pudding rich, warm, and comforting, it was one of the best desserts we’ve had in a long time. Truly unforgettable! The staff were equally impressive. Uni served us and was incredibly pleasant and attentive throughout the afternoon professional, friendly, and made us feel right at home. A special shoutout to Martin, who helped us with our booking,so helpful and accommodating. Can’t wait to come back again. Babae is a gem in Ballarat!

Wow. This might be one of the best restaurant experiences from a pure food point of view that I’ve ever had! (And that includes Michelin star restaurants in Europe). Love the farm to table vibes. The attention to detail was insane. Catered for my dietaries well. We came to Ballarat from melbourne specifically for their lunch experience and was not disappointed - already recommending it to lots of people. Thanks, we’ll be back!

Very unexpected and memorable. In the beautiful little city of Ballarat, Victoria, Babae stands out as a truly classic fine dining restaurant. While many modern venues are experimenting with new concepts, Babae stays grounded in the foundations of traditional fine dining, showcasing thoughtfully crafted dishes made with local ingredients. It feels like a hidden pearl of the city and truly brightened my experience in Ballarat. The evening was made even more special by the attentive and generous service. The staff provided informative explanations of each dish, and the wine pairings were exceptionally well matched. I cannot thank the team enough for such a refined and genuine fine dining experience.
